Milton is an affluent suburb of Boston, which has named as one of the “Best Places to Live” in the U.S. by Money magazine on more than one occasion. The town is located between the Neponset River and the Blue Hills and shares a border with Quincy to the east and south. Milton is home to just under 30,000 people, as well as Bent’s Cookie Factory, which has been operating in the town since 1801. The company, started by Josiah Bent, originally sold water crackers, biscuits made of flour and water that would not deteriorate on long sea voyages. During the Civil War, the company sold the original hardtack crackers used by the troops. The factory was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
